New York: Dominic Thiem had a horrific start to his US Open preparations when in last week he bundled out in his first match of the Southern and Western Open. But the 26-year old is courageous enough to turn things around in time for the Grand Slam.
The Austrian was placed second in the absence of Rafael Nadal and is expected to post the strongest challenge for top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the Flushing Meadows. Though Djokovic beat Thiem in a five-set thriller in the Australian Open final in 2020.
New York City has been through a lot.

After getting a first-round bye, Dominic managed to get only three victories in his second-round game against Serbian player Filip Krajinovic at the Western and Southern Open.
“Things like that, matches like that, are happening. I didn’t have my best day. That’s how the result came,” the Austrian told reporters on Sunday. “I know about my strengths. I know things can change very quickly. Well, I hope that I do better at the Open,” he added.
