Croatian forward Antonio Perosevic signs for SC East Bengal

Kolkata: SC East Bengal announced the signing of Croatian forward Antonio Perosevic from Újpest on Thursday, September 23 ahead of the preparations for their second stint at the Indian Super League.

“India is an amazing country and I have heard a lot about how passionate people are about football here. Especially, SC East Bengal and its fan base are much talked about. I have read up on them and I can’t wait to pull on the red and gold shirt,” said Perošević after putting pen-to-paper for SC East Bengal.

“I will look to help the team in whatever way I can and maintain the team spirit. I know the history attached to this club and I will do my best to uphold its legacy,” he added.

Perosevic started his professional career in February 2010 with Ojisek, after injury ladden season he came back in 2011-12 in Prava HNL and ended the league as a top scorer with seven goals to his name. Perosevic went abroad in 2017 when he signed for the Hungarian club Puskas Akedemia. After a year he moved to the United Arab Emirates with Al- Ittihad Kalba SC before finally joining Újpest in 2019 where he found the net seven times in 43 appearances.

He had made 15 appearances in the national shirt across U-17, U-20, and senior teams although he didn’t find any goal.

Perosevic is the sixth foreign signing of SC East Bengal, after Amir Dervisevic, Franjo Prce, Tomislav Mrcela, Daniel Chima, and Darren Siodel. SC East Bengal had recently brought in Spanish coach Manuel ‘Manolo’Diaz as they start to gear up for the eighth edition of the Indian Super League.
