Rio de Janeiro: Brazil came from behind to score twice as they defeated Colombia 2-1 in a crucial Group B Copa America 2021 fixture on Thursday. This was a much-win tie for Colombia after consecutive underwhelming performances. Elsewhere, Ecuador blew their first-half lead to split points with Peru.

Reinaldo Rueda’s men had a good start opening the scoring on 10 minutes after Luis Diaz possibly scored the best goal of the tournament so far. Roberto Firmino headed past David Ospana to bring Brazil back in the game on 78 minutes.

At a time, when it looked like both teams would split points, Casemiro netted the winner to take away full points and further strengthen their position at the from Colombia as the match ended in 2-1 victory for Brazil.

Elsewhere, Ecuador went ahead early courtesy of an own goal by Peruvian Renato Tapia. Ayrton Preciado doubled the Ecuadorian lead slotting home past Pedro Gallese in the first-half injury time.

However, Ecuador could not hold onto the lead for long as Gianluca Lapadula found the net just four minutes after the break. Minutes later Lapadula set up Andre Carillo for the equalizer, thus securing a point for his side.

Brazil sit at the top with nine points after three games and already advanced to the knockout stages. The second spot is taken by Colombia who has played all their matches but could muster only four points from them.

The third and fourth positions are taken by Peru and Ecuador with both having four points and game in hand with fair chances of qualification. Venezuela sit at the bottom having played three matches, gathering only two points.
