Goa: After a close draw against ATK Mohun Bagan, Chennaiyin FC will be much focused to clinch a victory and kick start the New Year as they host Hyderabad FC on Monday at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim. Both the teams have been struggling to find their feet in the league after a good start to their ISL campaign this season.

Hyderabad with a strong Indian outfit has lost to FC Goa in their last match from a 90th-minute goal from Igor Angulo and would be determined to start the year with a victory over their south rival.

Rafael Crivellaro and his men played well in their last match against a strong ATKMB side but failed to score against them. But with the recent form of the players will be enthusiastic enough to kick start with a victory.

Aridane Santana who has been on the scoring sheet in the last game against Goa can be a factor for Hyderabad and will be focused to clinch victory.

“We are working on it, especially with players who have scored goals or taken the shots, like [Lallianzuala] Chhangte or even Jakub Sylvestr. Hopefully, we can create the same number of chances and score even more goals than until now. I think, in football, it’s more difficult to create chances than to score. I want to play in the same way that we have until now and I am really confident. I know the boys will score (more) goals,” Chennaiyin coach Csaba Laszlo said in the pre-match press conference.

After a disappointing loss to Goa, Hyderabad coach Manolo Marquez wants to start the year on a fresh note. “They are a very dangerous team with a lot of good players. I was very impressed with their performance in the first half against Goa.

“They are dangerous in set-pieces because they have very good players, not only with tall players like Enes Sipovic and Eli Sabia but also with players like Jakub Sylvestr, Rahim Ali and Deepak Tangri in the box. Anirudh Thapa is another good player for set-pieces. I think that their coach is very brave when they play their games. I think Chennaiyin and Hyderabad deserve more points than we have on the table,” he said.
