Kolkata : East Bengal defeated Bidhannagar Municipality Sports Academy 5-1 at East Bengal Ground, Kolkata to record second consecutive win in CFL 2026 after beating George Telegraph in first match. PV Vishnu scored a hat-trick in first half that resulted in East Bengal’s dominant win.
East Bengal started the first half on an attacking mode with PV Vishnu, Jesin TK starring accompanied by Chaku Mandi and skipper Tanmay Das.
The Red and Yellow brigade took the lead in the 10th minute through PV Bishnu’s goal. However, the joy of the goal did not last long. Just four minutes later, Bidhannagar equalized through Sumit Majumdar’s goal.
In the 26th minute, the red-yellow number 7 increased the gap with a brilliant free kick from an eye-catching goal. It seemed that the first half would end with 2-1 goals. But East Bengal stormed in the added time. Vishnu completed his hat-trick exactly one minute after Bijay Murmu’s own goal in the 45+1 minute. As a result, the red-yellow camp went into the break with a big lead.
Bidhannagar tried to come back into the match in the second half. They wasted a golden opportunity in the 54th minute. Even after that, they created several chances, but the vigilant East Bengal defense did not break through.
However, Bino George’s men were ahead in the fight for possession of the ball in the second half. They played with the dominance of the midfield. Despite launching one attack after another, no goals were coming. Finally, Jesin TK contributed to the score sheet in the 81st minute. In the end, East Bengal won 5-1 and left the field with 3 points.
