Kolkata : Mohun Bagan Super Giant pulled off a comeback win against Railway FC to cut the lead with rival East Bengal and take another step to enter the Super Six of the CFL 2026.
Umesh Marandi broke the deadlock for Railway after the half-hour mark, but Bagan struck back within eight minutes and secured a 3-1 win at the Mohun Bagan Ground.
Bagan, which recently lost the Durand Cup final to the Red-and-Gold Brigade, fielded several of its first team players in the match, and found the equaliser just after the break, as Manvir Singh made it 1-1.
Railway failed to get a grip on Bagan’s mounting attacks soon after and within five minute, Robilal Mandi double the lead, dragging the Mariners ahead.
Indian under-23 international Suhail Ahmed Bhat then got his name on the scoresheet as Bagan ended the day on a memorable note, completing a turnaround in the second half, and widening the lead over fourth-placed United SC in the league.
Bagan remains a point short of East Bengal — 19 points from nine matches — having played a game more, and plays BSS Sporting next on September 1. Meanwhile, Railway locks horns with Kidderpore on the same day.
