Kolkata: Defending Kolkata League champions Bhawanipore Cricket Club signed 21 players including seven new faces on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming season. Head coach Abdul Monayem retained 14 players from the last season.

Like last season, 2012 U-19 World Cup-winning member, Sandipan Das, will lead the squad enriched with both youth and experience. It is the third year in a row, Das will be leading the side. Ravikant Singh and Durgesh Dubey joined the side from East Bengal while Arka Sarkar came from Shyambazar.

“We will start from where we finished in the previous season,” Das said after the players’ signing. “Last time there was no red-ball cricket. We have reached the finals in both formats of white-ball cricket and have become T20 champions. We want to move forward with this continuity this season.”
