Puducherry : Bengal Under-19 men’s team began their Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite campaign on a winning note, beating Bihar by 43 runs at the CAP Ground 4, Puducherry, on Thursday.
Batting first, Bengal posted a competitive 259/8 in 50 overs. Ankit Chatterjee (55), Aditya Roy (54) and Sayan Paul (39) impressed with the bat while Ashutosh Kumar’s quick-fire cameo of 35 (16) provided the final flourish to Bengal’s innings.
Chasing the target, Bihar were bundled out for 216 in 47.2 overs. Agastya Shukla (4-34), Rohit Kumar Das (3-23), Ashutosh (2-44) were brilliant with the ball for Bengal.
Bengal next face Madhya Pradesh in their second match on Saturday.
