Bengal T20 Challenge: Four players test positive for COVID-19

Kolkata: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) underwent a total of 142 persons coronavirus test, one day prior to checking into the hotel for COVID-19 and four have tested positive for the deadly virus on Friday (November 20).

Earlier, 48 players were drafted into the six teams on Tuesday (November 17) at a glitzy affair at the inaugural edition of the Bengal T20 Challenge to be played at Eden Gardens from November 24.

“A total of 142 persons had been tested one day prior to checking into the  hotel for COVID-19 and four have returned positive. They are: Abhishek Raman (East Bengal), Writtick Chatterjee (Mohun Bagan), Dip Chatterjee (Customs), Partha Pratim Sen (Anti-Corruption). They have been referred to the CAB medical team for treatment,” Joint secretary of CAB Debabrata Das stated.

Earlier, the clubs: Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Tapan Memorial, Town, Kalighat and Customs had retained 42 players from their existing teams last year. Various marquee and non-marquee players have been selected for the tournament. Pankaj Shaw, who earlier used to play for East Bengal, has been roped in by Town Club while Abhishek Das who was with Bhawanipore has joined Calcutta Customs Club.
