Dubai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Monday (September 21) praised the young Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal, who made a terrific IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad after he walked in to open with Aaron Finch.

Former India captain Ganguly, who was also an attacking left-hander during his playing days, lauded Padikkal on his performance and tweeted “Enjoyed watching devdutt padikal @RCBTweets ..left-handers grace so delightful.”

The class and calmness Padikkal showed in his first high-profile game was remarkable and earned plauds from his fans and experts from all around the world. The 20-year-old also became the first batsman in 10 years to score a half-century on his tournament debut.

RCB defeated SRH by 10 runs with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and pacer Navdeep Saini being the stand-out performers of the match. RCB will play their second game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Thursday (September 24).
