Bayern Munich start Bundesliga campaign with absolute demolition of Schalke 04

Munich: Bundesliga reigning champions Bayern Munich started their campaign with another stellar performance humiliating Schalke 04 8-0 on Saturday (September 19). When Serge Gnabry opened the scoring with a left-footed stunner, it was just 180 seconds into the game. Gnabry continued his dream form of last season as he went on to score a hat-trick in the very first match.

Leroy Sané, made his formidable presence felt from the very first match, his debut for Bayern was like a dream, as he sliced through Schalke’s defence and assisted twice to Gnabry. Not just two assists, he even scored once.

It was out and out dominance from the defending champions, as they went 3-0 up before half time owing to the goals scored by Gnabry, Leon Goretzka (19′) and Robert Lewandowski via a penalty in the 31 minutes of the game.

Hansi Flick’s men have now 22 games in a row. Their last defeat came on December 7 last year. Since then they have won 30 matches and one ended in a draw. The second half caused even more demolition.

Gnabry scored twice since the start of the second half in 47 and 59 minutes, followed by Thomas Muller goaL from Lewandowski’s cross on 69 minutes. Sane scored his first for the club in the 71st minute with Jamal Musiala putting the final nail on the coffin coming off the bench, scoring in 81st minutes.

They absolutely carried on their beautiful form since their treble win last season, this performance would help them more as they would again look forward to creating the same havoc over and over again, no matter the opponent they face.
