Dhaka: Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque has tested positive for COVID-19 and he is self-isolating himself, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed on Tuesday (November 10).

The 29-year-old middle-order batsman was having light COVID-19 symptoms and undertook a test on Monday (November 9). BCB’s chief physician then confirmed to the media that the left-handed batsman had tested positive for the deadly virus.

”Mominul is corona positive and he was having little symptoms,” Debashish was quoted as saying to the reporters on Tuesday.

Mominul said that he is under isolation at his home after he came to know about the result of his test. ”I came to know about the result yesterday and since isolated myself in the house. There is not much symptom… it is only that I was having little fever that I am carrying even today,” he stated.

Now, Mominul is a questionable opener for the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 tournament, scheduled to kick off from the third week of November.

Earlier, Abu Jayed, Saif Hassan and Mashrafe Mortaza had tested positive for coronavirus and later on recovered. A few cricketers and coaching staff from the U-19 camp had also tested positive for the deadly virus last month.

A few days back, Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah Riyad has tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday (November 8) and is set to miss the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs.
