New Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced on Monday (August 31) that the Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been bought as replacement for Australian pacer Kane Richardson ahead of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Earlier, Zampa had represented the Rising Pune Supergiants, presenting in 11 matches for them and picking up 19 wickets at an average of 14.73 and an economy of 7.54.
“We are disappointed to not have Kane’s skills with us this IPL as he certainly on top of his game,” said RCB’s head coach Mike Hesson.
“However, once we found out Kane and Nyki’s baby was due during the IPL, it’s an exciting time and we were fully supportive of Kane wanting to be at the birth of there first child,” Hesson added. “When looking at our squad for UAE conditions we felt it was an opportunity to bring in another quality legspinner in Adam Zampa to provide cover for Chahal and also give us extra options if conditions suit spin as expected during the tournament.”
Adding Zampa has further boosted RCB, with the team already having the players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Moeen Ali and Pawan Negi in the ranks. Zampa and Richardson both are presently in the UK as part of Australia’s 21-member limited-overs squad for the three T20Is and ODIS against England. Zampa, the bowler who had a base price of INR. 1.5 Crore, was in time bought for INR. 4 Crore in the auction.
The 13th edition of IPL is all set to kick off from September 19 to November 10 in the UAE, the tournament has been shifted outside the country due to the uprising COVID-19 cases in India.
