
Nisshin: India defeated Bangladesh by mammoth margin of 114 runs at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin in Asian Games 2026 Semi Final and marched into the final thereby confirming a medal in Women’s Cricket. Shafali Verma’s maiden T20I hundred helped India achieve the feat.
India Batting first started off on a fine note with 72 runs opening stand in powerplay. Shafali (100) and Smriti Mandhana (37) went off to a fiery start.
With the knock of 37(19) Smriti Mandhana also became leading run scorer in Women’s T20I Cricket (4788). She already has most runs in Women’s International (10964).
Even after Smriti’s dismissal, Shafali continued her aggressive Batting. She blasted 100*(49) with 9 sixes and 3 boundaries to bring her maiden ton in T20I Cricket. She now has most six (104) in Women’s T20Is. Overall, this was joint fastest 100 by an Indian in T20I along with Harmanpreet Kaur. Shafali’s record ton made her first Indian Batter to smash a hundred in Asian Games and 3rd Indian to score a ton in T20I.
Harmanpreet Kaur (40) also played a good knock of 40(33) and notched 94 runs stand with Shafali as India ended on 195-4 (20).
Defending 196, Indian iconic spinner Deepti Sharma (3/7) and pacer Nandani Sharma (3/25) grabbed 3 wickets each, while Shree Charani (2/7) picked 2 as India bundled Bangladesh on 81. The 114 runs win was India’s 3rd highest winning margin in T20I and 10th consecutive win against Bangladesh.
