Ashes 2021-22: Covid-19 hits Adelaide Day-night Test second time

Adelaide: Australia is grappling with a fresh wave of Covid cases. Daily cases are emerging in Sydney and Brisbane. In a major development, a member of a broadcast crew at the ongoing second Ashes Test in Adelaide has tested positive for Covid-19, the organizers said on day four of the pink-ball contest on Sunday.

Although Cricket Australia has put level four protocols in place which prohibits players from venturing out or signing autographs for the fans. As it turned out, a journalist who interviewed England’s Dawid Malan after play on Saturday has tested positive as part of scheduled testing.

“There’s been a scare in the media center center this morning. So everybody is on alert, not just the players.” Loughnan said on Fox Cricket.

“The Australian’s Peter Lalor reported a BBC staff member, who has not been identified, tested positive, creating chaos and uncertainty for attending media on Sunday. Sources said that as the journalist was wearing a mask and that there is no issue with Malan,” a report stated.

According to local reports, former Australia test player Glenn McGrath and former England bowler and Fox Cricket commentator Isa Guha have been pulled off media duties following the positive case, as they were a part of the BBC Test Match Special team.

Earlier, Australia’s regular test skipper Pat Cummins missed the match for being a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case after dining in the same restaurant as the person who contracted the virus.
