Just before the match begin, a statue of Diego Maradona was unveiled at Unico Madres de Ciudades stadium in Santiago del Estero, paying homage to the legend who died last November. Argentina pushed forward and were looking for all three points although both the sides looked rusty as it was their first game since November, 2020.

Messi almost snatched three points but was denied on a number of occasions by Claudia Bravo, who made some extraordinary saves and kept his team in the game.

Whereas, in an Euro warm up match, Belgium were held 1-1 by Greece. The Belgium side were missing most of their regular starters. Thorgan Hazard put his team ahead on 20 minutes shortly afterward Romelu Lukaku was denied by Odysseas Vlachodimosv, Georgios Tzavellas scored the equaliser for the Greek side.

Further look at World Cup qualifiers, the rest of the matches fanned out as Bolivia tipped over Venezuela 3-1 at home and Uruguay and Paraguay played a goalless draw.
