Kolkata : Bengal’s ‘crisis man’ Anustup Majumdar has confirmed that this will be his last season as player. The veteran also desires more participation of players from Bengal T20 League and Bengal Cricket in Indian Premier League (IPL).
Anustup Majumdar said that T20 Cricket is evolving, unlike their time in early 2000s when T20 didn’t exist. Also known as ‘Crisis Man’, the veteran hung his boots silently after serving Bengal over 2 decades through ups and downs. He played few JC Mukherjee Trophy matches for Mohun Bagan but was rested in knockouts. Again he featured for Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards in Bengal T20 League 2026 as a player.
The veteran was appointed as Bengal U16 Coach weeks earlier. Hence, he confirmed that this will be his last season as player, after which he’ll take up coaching role.
“Every year Cricket is evolving, when I started playing, T20 Cricket wasn’t there, during 2004/2005 , we played first official tournament – Bradman Cup, from there T20 Cricket started”.
He continued, ” This maybe my last year as a player, so trying to update myself as much as possible. Bengal T20 League is a good platform, people like us and CAB, all want players like Karan Lal, who’s working hard since last 2 years, to play IPL, and I hope next year many players from here will play IPL”.
Abhishek Raman led Murshidabad Kings earlier defeated Anustup Majumdar’s team Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards. Murshidabad surprised everyone with big Batting shuffles.

Murshidabad brought Saksham Chaudhary, mainly a bowling allrounder, in opening and he scored 50(37). Rishabh Chaudhary, who’s hard hitter smashed 71(49).
Abhishek Raman , who mainly opens for Mohun Bagan in Bengal domestic Cricket demoted himself to number 6. Top order Batter Aditya Purohit was also demoted to number 7. Toufik Uddin Mondal whose strength is bowling and Bats at lower order mainly was promoted above them, a move that proved vital as he scored 37(17) helping Murshidabad reach 201/5. Medinipur could only manage 95/5 and fell short by 28 runs in DLS.
Regarding the Batting order shuffle, captain Abhishek Raman stated that just the move of Saksham Chaudhary was confirmed in team but rest of the Batting order went with the flow as per team requirement.
