Granada: La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid got back to winning ways and beat Granada 2-1 away from home on Saturday (13 January) and moved eight points clear at the top of the standings in La Liga.

Marcos Llorente put Atletico in front on 63 minutes with a low finish from the edge of the area. However, the visitors’ joy was shortlived as Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera equalised for Granada three minutes later from a corner.

Atletico were on course to drop points for a second consecutive game after Monday’s 2-2 draw at home against Celta Vigo, but they regained the lead in the 75th due to a heavily deflected effort from Argentine forward Angel Correa.

Diego Simeone’s side moved to 54 points after 21 games at the top position, eight points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, and with a game in hand.
