AIFF announces 25-man squad for friendlies against Belarus, Bahrain

New Delhi- Indian National Football team head coach, Igor Stomach announced the final 25-men squad to face the countries of Bahrain and Belarus in friendly encounter in the final week of March. The announced squad saw seven new names, who have particularly impressed the gaffer in the eighth edition of the Indian Super League. The encounters will also see FIFA U-17 World Cup game, Anwar Ali return to the field donning the Blue jersey after his national career was cut short due to heart anomalies.

The international friendlies are a part of the team’s preparation for the final round of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifying matches which will be held in Kolkata from June 8 onwards. India have been clubbed in Group D along with Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Cambodia. 24 teams have been divided into six groups and the group winners, and the five best 2nd placed teams will earn a ticket to the Asian Cup in China.

The complete list of the players are as following:

GOALKEEPERS: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Prabhsukhan Gill.

DEFENDERS: Pritam Kotal, Seriton Fernandes, Rahul Bheke, Hormipam Ruivah, Sandesh Jhingan, Anwar Ali, Chinglensana Singh, Subhasish Bose, Akash Mishra, Roshan Singh.

MIDFIELDERS: Bipin Singh, Anirudh Thapa, Pronay Halder, Jeakson Singh, Brandon Fernandes, VP Suhair, Danish Farooq, Yasir Mohammad, Aniket Jadhav.

FORWARDS: Manvir Singh, Liston Colaco, Rahim Ali.

While Sunil Chettri, Aashique Kuruniyan is set to miss the games owning to injuries, AFC Champions League have kept Mumbai City FC forward Vikram Pratap Singh away from the games despite having a wonderful season. However, the list includes seven new faces to be see in the Senior national team jersey, namely,- Prabhshukhan Gill, Hormipam Ruivah, Anwar Ali, Roshan Singh, VP Suhair, Danish Farooq, and Aniket Yadav.
