Kolkata : Afghanistan’s men’s cricket team will face Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in an ODI tri-series in October 2026, in addition to playing a one-off Test against Bangladesh and two Tests and three T20Is against Zimbabwe. According to the schedule announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday, the one-off Test against Bangladesh will be played from October 9 to 13, followed by the ODI tri-series from October 17 to 23.
In the ODI tri-series, all three teams will play two matches each, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
Following the conclusion of the tri-series, Afghanistan will face Zimbabwe in three T20Is on October 27, October 29 and November 1, respectively. The two-match Test series between the two teams will then be played from November 5 to 17.
All the matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates.
“This is an important tour for Zimbabwe, offering our players high-quality competition across all three formats,” Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“The ODI tri-series will test us against two strong sides, while the two Tests are especially valuable as we continue seeking more regular opportunities in the longest format. We sincerely appreciate the Afghanistan Cricket Board for hosting this programme and the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their cooperation. We look forward to a competitive and exciting tour,” he added.
Meanwhile, ACB chief executive officer Naseeb Khan stated that playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe across different formats would provide Afghanistan’s players with valuable competitive opportunities.
“Playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe across different formats will provide our players with valuable competitive opportunities and offer our supporters an exciting period of international cricket,” Naseeb Khan said.
“The Afghanistan Cricket Board remains committed to providing our national team with regular, high-quality international cricket. We highly value our relationships with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Zimbabwe Cricket and appreciate their cooperation in making these important assignments possible,” he added.
