AFC Cup 2022: Kuala Lumpur City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan 3-1 to reach inter-zonal final

Kolkata : ATK Mohun Bagan continues their worst record in the inter zonal semi final of AFC Cup. Malaysian side nets three goals to beat the mariners in their home turf at VYBK.

After knocking out from the Durand Cup 2022, ATK Mohun Bagan’s bad run continues in AFC Cup Inter Zonal Semifinal. The forward line is still a worrying for the green and maroon brigade. The visitors, Kuala Lumpur City FC have put a great show with their counter attack and hold their nerve till the end to grab the match with ease. Kuala Lumpur’s captain Paulo Josue scores a stunning goal at the 60th minute of the game and gives his team a lead. But the super sub of ATK Mohun Bagan, Fardin Ali Molla scores the equaliser in the 90th minute of the game. But still there is a twist in the end of the game, at 93rd minute Kuala Lumpur City FC’s sub Fakrul Aiman scores and make their team ahead of the host by 2-1. Just after 3 minutes in the KL City FC’s another sub Colombian striker Romel Morales nets the third goal for their team.

ATK Mohun Bagan now loss their two successive elimination from the AFC Cup at the Inter-Zone semifinal stage. In 2021, they lost their game against FC Nasaf by 6 goals to nil. After the last year’s humiliation this year the story remains the same. Kuala Limpur City FC will now face Uzbekistan’s side PFC Sogdiana in the Inter Zonal Play Off Final on 5th of October.
