Kolkata: Germany defeated Japan 74-58 in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Germany played a fast-paced and energetic game and kept control of the match for most of the game. Germany came out strong and built an early lead. Japan fought to catch up and score and put on a powerful attack, but Germany kept their defense strong and prevented them from scoring. Germany played an equally impressive game in the second half. Their quick plays and accurate shooting as well as brilliant defense kept Japan from catching up.
Japan tried to fight off in the second quarter. The Japanese team managed to perform quick passes and attacks to score some points. However, Germany remained calm and did not give up a chance to score more points. The German players were constantly pressing and managed to add several more points to their total. In the third quarter, Germany continued to gain control of the game.
Frieda Bühner was one of Germany’s top players, and she did not disappoint. With 19 points on her game sheet, she played a critical role in Germany’s victory. Nyara Sabally also performed well in her home country, managing to score 18 points for Germany. Her teammate Marie Gülich added 11 points, and Emma Eichmeyer scored 10 points. These three players became Germany’s primary scorers and allowed the team to take control of the match.
Japan did not give up and tried to score as many points as possible in the final minutes of the game. However, Germany refused to lose and did not let Japan take the lead.
Japan’s best scorer Kokoro Tanaka managed to score 15 points and Norika Konno scored 8 points for them, but the team could not score more consistently.
The German players were focused and patient and could score valuable points. In addition, Germany did not let Japan gain any ground and continue building their attack. The Japanese team made several more attempts to take control of the game in the final quarter. Nevertheless, Germany continued to attack and score points. They did not weaken defensively and prevented Japan from scoring any points. In the end, Germany defended Japan with a difference of 74–58 in favor of Germany.
Japan’s shooting from three-point range was a huge problem. Their inability to knock down the ball from distance made it difficult to close the gap on Germany.
Germany played composed in the final quarter and was able to finish strong as they beat Japan 74-58, a 16-point win, with the final buzzer sounding.
