Kolkata : India have decided to withdraw Mohammad Siraj and replace him with his Gujarat Titans teammate Prasidh Krishna in T20I squad for England and Ireland Series. This is a precautionary measure to manage workload for Siraj.
“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme,” the BCCI said in a release. “The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season.”
Prasidh has played five T20Is so far, with eight wickets at an economy rate of 11. His last game for India in the format came in November 2023, against Australia in Guwahati.
Prasidh is also part of India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan beginning June 13, while Siraj was left out for that series. Both quicks recently played in the Test win against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh.
Siraj played 17 games for GT in IPL 2026, while Prasidh played 12 during the team’s run to the final.
After the T20I series against Ireland and England, India are also set to play ODIs in England, and have assignments lined up in Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
India play Ireland in two T20Is in Belfast on June 26 and 28, followed by five T20Is in England from July 1 to 11.

Yashasvi Jaiswal replaces Virat Kohli in ODI Squad for Afghanistan series
Earlier Yashasvi Jaiswal also replace veteran Virat Kohli in upcoming three-ODI series against Afghanistan after injuring his hamstring during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s run to the IPL 2026 title.
Kohli’s absence from the series was confirmed by Ajit Agarkar, India’s chairman of selectors, in Mumbai on Saturday. Agarkar also said Kohli could be fit for India’s next ODI assignment – a three-match series against England from July 14 – but added that there is “no clear timeline” from the physio on his return.
“With Virat at this point, it’s just been less than a week since he injured himself in the [IPL] finals. We don’t know the timelines yet,” Agarkar said. “But it looks like he might be fit for that England one-day series. It’s not a definitive answer, so don’t hold me to it. I haven’t had a clear timeline from the physio yet.”
Jaiswal, who made his ODI debut against England in February 2025, has played four matches in the format so far. He made an unbeaten 116 in his last ODI, against South Africa in Visakhapatnam in December 2025.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is undergoing a fitness assessment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and Rohit Sharma is expected to report to the facility in the coming days. Both have been included in India’s squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Hardik has not played an ODI since India’s triumph at the Champions Trophy in March 2025, while Rohit, who last featured in India’s previous ODI assignment in January, is returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for six IPL matches earlier this season.
