Kolkata : Indian and Bengal pacer Akash Deep Singh who has been out of action due to rehab process is eyeing full fitness before returning to Cricket. Having missed IPL 2026 earlier, Akash reveals that he is missing playing in Bengal T20 League 2026. Previously, he featured for Servotech Siliguri Strikers in the tournament as a Marque player.

Thanking the Cricket Association of Bengal for organizing Bengal T20 League, Akash Deep believes the tournament is the best platform for cricketers in Bengal to showcase their talent and attract the selectors’ attention.

Akash Deep, who featured in the earlier editions of Bengal T20 League, missed a chance to play in Season 3 as he is currently at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for rehabilitation.

Akash Deep reveals missing Bengal T20 League Season 3, says it’s like oxygen to players

“I miss playing in the tournament (Bengal T20 League) this year. I have been following the matches and it’s thrilling to watch competitive cricket being played with runs being scored and bowlers are doing well. I am thankful to CAB for organizing such a tournament where talents in Bengal will get the opportunity to showcase their skills,” Akash Deep, who was at the Eden Gardens for the Bengal T20 League afternoon match on Tuesday, told CAB Media.

“Bengal T20 League has made the game in Bengal more competitive. The league is like an oxygen to the players. Playing at a stadium like Eden Gardens will surely boost the players and they will also get exposure. IPL team talent scouts are coming, so it’s an advantage for players,” Akash said.

Akash Deep has played 10 Test matches for India taking 28 wickets. In IPL, he has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants.

When will Akash Deep return to Cricket?

Akash Deep suffered a lower back stress for which he was also ruled out of IPL 2026. The injury initially surfaced during the Ranji Trophy semifinal, forcing him to undergo an extensive rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Speaking on his recovery and when he would return to competitive cricket, Akash Deep said, “I am currently under rehab at BCCI Centre of Excellence. Hoping to return to training and competitive cricket as early as possible. I would like to play a few domestic matches after I get clearance, which will help me know where my body is at that moment.”
