Birmingham : India bag three gold medals and a total of six medals in wrestling on day 8 at Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. As a result India move to the 5th position in the Medal tally of 9 Golds, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze with a total of 26 medals.

Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik bag their first ever gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, while defending his title Bajrang Punia put up a great show to win another Commonwealth Game’s Gold for the country. Indian wrestlers didn’t stop either grabbing 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals for the day in wrestling. Wrestlers Anshu Malik clinch a Sliver, while Divya Kakran and Mohit Grewal settle down a bronze medal each for the country. Indian Badminton contingent PV Sindhu and Kadambi Srikanth storm into the quarter finals in their respective singles badminton event.

Star Speedster Hima Das fail to qualify for women’s 200m final and Indian Tennis Table Star Monica Batra also falls short to qualify for the semi final. Even Indian women’s hockey team put up a great show and goes down a 0-3 loss against Australia in shootout in semifinal.
Day 9 at the commonwealth will be very eventful for the Indian contingent. As boxers and wrestlers will advance themselves for a medal assurance for the country.
