ISL 2021-22: Hugo Boumous, Roy Krishna star as ATK Mohun Bagan crush Kerala Blasters

Goa: For the inauguration match of Hero ISL 2021-22 ATK Mohun Bagan faced Kerala Blaster FC in a match which was a complete a goal fest. ATKMB got a thumping 4-2 victory over Kerala Blasters at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

ATKMB’s new signing Hugo Boumous opened the scoring, and set stage as whole of India warmed themselves up for the start of the campaign. Boumous tried to pick a player out from the left flank on 3 minutes of the match and the curler somehow missed everyone and curled into the far post.

KBFC were pushing for an equalizer after conceding an early goal and on 24 minutes they got the price of piling pressure. A brilliant combination between Rahul KP and Sahal led to the goal. Rahul delivered a pin-point ball from the right flank asSahal received the ball and put the ball past a helpless Amrinder.

Although their joy was short lived as the Boumous-Roy Krishna combined successfully to earn a penalty. And Roy Krishna doesn’t miss from the spot. ATKMB extended their lead further within 10 minutes when Hugo Boumous made a great run down the right flank and slipped the ball between Albino’s leg to, complete his brace.

5 minutes into the second half and Liston Colaco scored to make it 4-1. Krishna passed the ball to Colaco, who trapped the ball with his feet, took a look and put it into the top-right corner out of Albino’s reach, from the edge of the box.

Both the teams got the fair shares of their chances and finally KBFC found a way to add a condolence goal just to reduce the margin. Diaz made a great run to meet a even greater pass from Luna, to make it 4-2 for KBFC on 70 minutes. The scoreline remained the same, although Luna came close during the dying minutes but not much to avail, as the match ended 4-2 in favour of ATKMB.
