Mumbai: Indian skipper Virat Kohli is surely feeling the wrath on social media after he revealed he consumes eggs among other things in his current diet. Kohli finally hits back at the critics who questioned his ‘vegan or vegetarian’ diet status.

Kohli, who is currently in Southampton for the England tour, clarified that he never claimed to be vegan. Kohli took to twitter to clear the air, and wrote that he is vegetarian and cheekily advised all those who criticized him to take a deep breath and eat their vegetables.

Kohli’s remarks came after he shared that he consumes eggs in his diet, during a question-and-answer season in Instagram with his fans. Given the  high fitness standards, Kohli has set for himself, his fans are always intrigued about what he eats. One user asked about his diet during the QnA session and he revealed that his diet mainly includes “lots of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of coffee, dal, quinoa, lots of spinach, love dosa too”. He also highlighted that it is important to make sure that whatever he consumes is in “controlled quantities”.

Several users have been alleging that he has claimed to be a ‘vegan’ in the past, and took the opportunity to question how an apparently vegan Kohli could have egg in his diet. Recently a tweet of Kohli from 2019 resurfaced in social media in which the 32 year old clearly mentioned that he is vegetarian.

Meanwhile, Kohli will be next seen in action during the World Test Championship final against Williamson’s force New Zealand on June 18 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Following that, India will play against England for a five-match Test series starting August 4.
