Northampton : South Africa Champions defeated India Champions by 54 runs at County Ground, Northampton.
However, India qualified for semi finals by virtue of Run Rate. Yusuf Pathan’s 54* (44) played a vital role in this feat.
Chasing 211 runs, Robin Uthappa (23) gave India a quick start. India needed to score 153 runs to qualify for Semi Finals.
But India lost momentum & resulted not only decline in run rate but also loss of wickets.
Yusuf Pathan (54*) & Irfan Pathan (35) piled up a 56 runs partnership to put India back on track.
Yusuf Pathan stayed till the end and guided India to 156 runs in last Ball thriller.
Despite India losing the Match they scored 153 runs & qualified by virtue of run rate.
In 1st innings, Batting 1st, South African Batters punished Indian bowlers all over the park.
Jacques Snyman (73) & Richard Levi (60) played aggressive Cricket and brought South Africa to 210-8 (20).
Harbhajan Singh’s 4-fer stopped South Africa to this score else they could have gone past 250.
Snyman was adjourned the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.
