Mumbai: Indian women’s team pacer Mansi Joshi has been ruled out from the upcoming Women’s T20 Challenge in the UAE, as she tested positive for COVID-19. The tournament is scheduled to be held from November 4 to 9.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, uncapped Uttar Pradesh pacer Meghna Singh has been named as Joshi’s replacement in the squad Velocity, but not got any approval from BCCI yet. The 27-year-old Joshi is understood to be asymptomatic and in stable condition.

She tested positive for the deadly virus in her hometown Dehradun when the mandatory test was held by BCCI of all the players involved in the T20 tournament to undertake, before departing for Mumbai.

After that, Joshi has been placed in a self-quarantine period for two weeks starting from October 11. The Indian contingent is presently in a nine-day quarantine at Mumbai, as they will depart for UAE on October 21, hence ruling Joshi out of contention.

The three-team event will be played in Sharjah during the ongoing Indian Premier League playoffs. Harmanpreet Kaur (Supernovas), Smriti Mandhana (Trailblazers) and Mithali Raj (Velocity) will lead the three teams, like the last edition in Jaipur.
