Kolkata : Indian veteran batsman Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma are set to play Duleep Trophy starting from September 5 , with final being played on September 19, ahead of India’s home Test series against Bangladesh.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association has declared that the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru will host the opening match of the tournament.
As per multiple reports, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might feature in opening match of the 4 teams red ball tournament. However, a final call of whether to play or not depends on them.
Along with these veterans, Indian players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kisan, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have also been asked to play in the competition.
This tournament is to boost the Indian players ahead of the home Test series against Bangladesh starting from September 24.
