Virat Kohli aims for maiden glory; David Warner looks to replicate 2016 performance

Dubai: After a long break, India captain Virat Kohli will be back on the field when he leads Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a mouthwatering clash in the Indian Premier League on Monday (September 21) in Dubai.

RCB have never won the IPL and will be aiming to make it happen this year. With the likes of Kohli, AB de Villers, Aaron Finch and local talents Devdutt Padikkal, Shivam Dube, RCB fans could hope for a better campaign this year.

In the bowling department, RCB has some promising names this time with Navdeep Saini, Dale Steyn and Umesh Yadav leading the pace attack. In the spin department, Kohli will depend hugely on Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi. Earlier, RCB announced on August 31 that the Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been bought in as a replacement for compatriot Kane Richardson.

On the other hand, SRH will be led by David Warner instead of Kane Williamson. They also have some big names like Jonny Bairstow, and not to forget the men from Afghanistan — Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi.

The Australian opener Warner is excited to have the existence of experienced campaigners in the Sunrisers ranks. “We have plenty of experience with the likes of Kane, (Jonny) Bairstow, Vijay Shankar to name a few. We got a job on our hand for sure,” he said.

Speaking about his opening partner Jonny Bairstow, Warner said, “We know when to take those calculated risks and it is time to go this year again.” “RCB are a very strong team, and we are looking forward to getting out there and playing against them again. It will be the first match for both the teams. So we are definitely excited about that and your chances are always going to be 50/50 at the beginning,” he added.

Few approaching achievements by SRH and RCB are: De Villiers is just one six shy of completing 200 IPL sixes, Virat Kohli needs 88 runs to complete 5500 IPL runs, Siddarth Kaul needs one wicket to complete 50 IPL wickets.
