Dubai: Sunrisers Hyderabad has signed medium pacer Umran Malik as a COVID-19 replacement for T Natarajan ahead of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Before the team’s match against the Delhi Capitals on September 22nd, Natarajan tested positive for COVID-19.
Malik has a total of four wickets from one T20 and one List A match for Jammu Kashmir. He is already a net bowler for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Franchises had been authorized to sign a short-term replacement player under Regulation 6.1 (c) until the original squad member is cleared to re-enter the team’s bio-secure environment.
As a result, Malik will only be a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad till Natarajan is cleared to return.
