Goa: Bipin Singh scored a hat-trick and a brace from Bartholomew Ogbeche saw Mumbai City FC thrash Odisha FC 6-1 in the Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Wednesday. CY Goddard scored the other goal for Mumbai to earn this important victory before the final showdown against ATK Mohun Bagan for the top spot on Sunday.

The match started in a different fashion with Diego Mauricio giving Odisha the lead after Jerry Mawihmingthanga was fouled inside the box by Ahmed Jahouh on the ninth minute.

But Ogbeche was determined on Wednesday as he equalised on 14th minute from a Jahouh corner and brought the Islanders back into the match.

Odisha held Mumbai on for the next 25 minutes but a defensive error from Jacob Tratt helped Bipin to chip in to give Mumbai the lead and the rampage began. Ogbeche scored the third in the 43rd minute with Goddard chipping with another in the 44th thus helping Mumbai to take a 4-1 lead over Odisha in the first half.

The second half began in a similar fashion with Bipin scoring in the 47th minute, which was their fifth and the Highlanders went on attacking the young and inexperienced Odisha defence. In the 86th minute, he completed his hat-trick — the first in this season of the tournament.
