T20 World Cup 2021: Australia rout Bangladesh to strengthen semifinals contention

Dubai: Australia sealed a crushing 8 wicket victory over Bangladesh in the Super 12,Group of the ICC World T20 in Dubai on Thursday to close in further for a semi-final spot. The win saw the Aussies gain an edge over South Africa in the group standings.

The Aussie bowlers proved their skipper Aaron Finch’s decision to bowl first, right on the money packing the Bangladeshi line up home for a mere 73. Spinner Adam Zampa(5/19) ran havoc with Mitchell Starc(2/21) giving him good support.

For Bangladesh, it was no more than a nightmare as other Shamim Hossain(19), Mohammad Naim(17) and Mahmudullah(16), none were able to see double digits.

In reply, Australia grabbed the opportunity of improving their net run rate with both hands chasing down the slender target in just 6.2 overs. Skipper Finch lead the charge with breezy 20 ball 40 with Mitchell Marsh(16*) giving the finishing touch.
