Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Dinesh Karthik named in Tamil Nadu probables

Chennai: Last year’s finalists of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday (December 16) named the 26-strong probables listing by Tamil Nadu probable squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket tournament will be played in January next year.

The Tamilnadu probables included the familiar names of familiar names like Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay and Vijay Shankar have been included in 26 probables from Tamil Nadu for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to be held next month.

Karthik, who was the captain of KKR in the IPL, is currently out of Team India. In the 13th series of IPL, Karthik left the captaincy of KKR in the middle of the Indian Premier League due to the team’s consistent defeat and poor form. Now he is ready to return to the field.

The players were selected on the basis of their last year’s performance”l Chairman of selectors S Vasudevan said on Wednesday. “We have chosen the players based on last year’s performance. It is a balanced one with a mix of experience and youth,” Vasudevan was quoted as saying to PTI.

The players picked by the men’s senior state selection committee of the TNCA also includes medium-pacer Aswin Crist. The BCCI had to postpone the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to January 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The final squad will be picked on December 21.

Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament is all set to be played across six states under-bio secure bubble. The tournament will begin on January 10 and the final of the tournament will be played on January 31.
