Suresh Raina returns to nets ahead of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Kanpur: A few days after confirming his participation in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021,
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina returned to nets after a long gap. The former India batsman trained along with his Uttar Pradesh teammates. The UPCA has started the preparations for the upcoming domestic season, which will start with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Raina hasn’t played a competitive game since the final of IPL 2019 and it will be the first time will take the field. Sharing the news with his fans Raina wrote, “All set for the camp, warming up for the upcoming season among the lions of @UPCACricket,” wrote Raina in the Twitter post.

The southpaw is currently in Kanpur practicing. Uttar Pradesh will be led by young Priyam Garg, who has had also led India U-19 in the World Cup earlier this year.

BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) regarding IPL 2021 is expected to take place on December 24. The board also plans to add two new franchises for the next season. After that, it could be expected that an announcement from the board regarding the schedule of the domestic season will be done.
