Sunil Gavaskar wishes former Indian wicket keeper for his commentary debut in WTC Final

Southampton: Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar Cricket has wished Dinesh Karthik his best for his first official commentary stint for the World Test Championship final.

Gavaskar took to his social media handle on Friday Gavaskar shared an image with Karthik and captioned it saying “He made his India Test debut when I was a consultant to the Indian cricket team. Now he will make his commentary debut with the WTC finals. I’m sure he will do well in the box too. Good luck @dk00019 !”

Responding to the batting maestro’s post, Karthik thanked Gavaskar for his blessings and wrote “Will be glad to be alongside you, thanks for the blessings sir.”

Karthik, who was a part of England Wales Board’s official broadcaster Sky Sports’ commentary team during India’s home series against England in March this year, will be making his commentary debut in the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand starting June 18 at Southampton. Along with Karthik Gavaskar is the only Indians who are part of the star-studded panel for the inaugural WTC final historic clash in Southampton.

Karthik was last seen in action in the recently suspended Indian Premier League 2021. He last played for India at the 2019 World Cup. With two T20 World Cups lined up in next the Kolkata Knight Riders star batsman hasn’t given up on his hopes to make a promising comeback in international cricket.

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team is currently quarantining in Southampton and gearing up for their first training session at the ahead of the much-awaited World Test Championship final against New Zealand, starting on June 18.
