Goa: Table-toppers Mumbai City FC will take on spirited NorthEast United on Saturday at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim.

The Mumbai side would be looking to continue with their six-point gap against their nearest rival ATK Mohun Bagan who are sitting on 24 points. NorthEast are the only side to beat Mumbai this season.

With an unfortunate draw in the last match due to an Ahmed Jahouh mistake, the Islanders would be much more engrossed before facing the Highlanders who have collected six points in their last two matches.

In the pre-match press conference, Mumbai coach Sergio Lobera said, “I am not worried about the first match (0-1 loss against NorthEast). My concern about the game is that they have improved a lot. They have changed a lot.”

Under Khalid Jamil, the Highlanders have got back their spark which was missing from them lately. Lobera added, “They have improved a lot with the new coach in the last two games. They are playing very good attacking football and are comfortable keeping possession of the ball.

“For us, it’s going to be a different game from the first leg. We need to look into this. But we have obviously improved from the first match. It’s not easy now to play against NorthEast.”

NorthEast on the other hand would be eyeing to make a double against Mumbai. The form which they are on would be the key in this match as especially their victory against ATKMB would help them to lift up their spirit.

“Credit to the players for the hard work and good performance in the last two games. Hopefully, we will continue with the same spirit. Mumbai are unbeaten in 12 games, but we must believe in ourselves that we can beat them,” said assistant coach Alison Kharsyntiew.
