La Spezia: AC Milan missed a golden opportunity to extend their lead at the top in Serie A as Spezia beat them 2-0 at Stadio Alberto Picco on Saturday (February 13). Giulio Maggiore and Simone Bastoni both scored their first goals in the Italian top-flight football as the hosts pulled themselves in nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Milan, despite seeing much of the ball had a rather scratchy first 45 minutes. The best chance came for Theo Hernandez from a set-piece but his header went wide. Spezia opened the scoring in the second half through Maggiore who got to the end of a fine move.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was off-colour this evening failing to convert his chances with the Rossoneri midfield being unable to break the line of Spezia defence. Bastoni, with a thumping strike from the outside box sealed a memorable evening for his side who are playing in their debut season in Serie A.

However, Milan still hold the top spot two points clear of second-placed Inter.
