Galle : Sri Lanka hammered New Zealand by an innings and 154 runs , at Galle International Stadium, thereby whitewashing them 2-0 , owing to a brilliant all round performance.

Batting 1st, 3 Batters from Sri Lanka namely veteran Dinesh Chandimal (116), Mendis (106*) & in form youngster Kamindu Mendis (182*) accompanied by experienced Angelo Mathews (88) pilled up mammoth 602 runs.

Sri Lankan bowlers demolished Kiwis for just 88 runs, owing to Prabhat Jayasuriya’s 6/42 & debutant Nishan Peiris’ 3/33, thereby, enforcing them to follow-on.

Following on, Kiwi Batters like Devon Conway (61), Tom Blundell (60) and later Glenn Phillips (72) & Mitchell Santner (67) did show great fight and resistance to push the match to Day 4 2nd session, but debutant Nishan Peiris’ 6-fer & and Prabhat Jayasuriya’s 3-fer halted them to 360 runs, thereby handing the host Sri Lankans a historic 154 runs win by an innings, and whitewashing the Blackcaps 2-0.
