Headingley : Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill’s centuries put England under pressure on Day 1 of 1st Test.
Being put to Bat first, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (101) & KL Rahul (42) scored 91 runs opening stand.
However, India lost quick 2 wickets of Rahul and Sai Sudarshan on 92.
Jaiswal went on to play 101 (159) knock , including 1 six and 16 boundaries. He also went on to smash 129 runs partnership with skipper Shubman Gill (127*) before falling to Ben Stokes on 221 runs.
Gill also smashed century, in his very first innings as Indian Test skipper. His unbeaten knock of 127* (175) runs included 1 six and 16 boundaries.
Gill formed 138* runs partnership with Rishabh Pant (65*) who also played an aggressive knock to score his half century.
India are now on 359-3 with Gill and Pant at crease.
