Karachi: Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi heaped praise on the Taliban on Tuesday saying that Afghanistan will remain in good hands and the terror organisation has entered with a positive mindset to power and they love cricket.

Afghanistan is in utter chaos. The current political situation in the country is getting out of hands day by day. Ever since the Taliban took over the reins of the nation, hundreds died while thousands of others have made desperate attempts to leave the nation immediately. Even Afghanistani cricketers have been praying for their country. Yet, Afridi’s shocking comment on the Taliban came as a shock to many.

In a video shared by Pakistani journalist Naila Inayat, during a media interaction, Afridi shockingly praised the Taliban and welcomed them to rule in Afghanistan. “Taliban have come with a very positive mind. They’re allowing ladies to work. And I believe Taliban like cricket a lot,” Afridi said on Monday.

“Taliban is giving jobs to ladies, supporting cricket and the cricket series against Pakistan as well. Taliban is very positive towards cricket,” he added. Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister and former captain Imran Khan also said that the Taliban are in ‘military outfits but normal civilians,’ who are just returning to their country.

Khan also claimed that it was ‘extremely unfair’ to make such accusations on the Taliban. Pakistan has been long accused of helping the Taliban militarily, financially, and with other inputs in their fight against the Afghan government. Now it seems like Pakistanis are making it more obvious to the world by supporting the Taliban.
