Manchester: Manchester City have officially announced the departure of Sergio Agüero, one of the club’s most influential and famous player. The Argentine forward is putting an end to an association that started way back in 2011. As per reports Aguero is linked to a move to Barcelona.

Agüero has a career studded with silverware at City. He became the club’s record goalscorer in 2017 scoring 257 goals in 384 games and also won the Premier League four times, the League Cup five times, and the FA Cup once with City.

Aguero’s dramatic late goal on the last matchday in 2012 helped City secure the Premier League title. Agüero’s contract expires in the summer, and City have committed to a statue commissioned alongside David Silva and Vincent Kompany already under construction at the Etihad Stadium.

Many experts are also seeing Agüero link with Barcelona could be part of a push to convince compatriot Lionel Messi to not leave. “When a cycle comes to an end, many sensations arise,” Aguero said in an emotional farewell message to City fans.

“A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole 10 seasons – unusual for a professional player this day and age. Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love this club – people who will always be in my heart,” he added.
