SC East Bengal win Fox battle; Danny available for selection against Bengaluru FC

Danny: SC East Bengal have won the battle of the appeal they made to the All India Football Federation against Danny Fox’s red card incident which happened during their 1-1 draw against FC Goa match.

This has been the rarest of the rare cases ever happened in Indian football where a player with a red card has been allowed by the AIFF to play in the next match. With the decision, the East Bengal captain can now lead his side against Bengaluru FC on Saturday.

The AIFF considered the tackle of Fox on Romario Jesuraj wasn’t a foul or a red card offence by considering the video footage of the match. The referring in the ISL this season has been very poor to say at least. Numerous wrong decisions throughout the tournament made the teams and their coaches unhappy.

In the pre-match or the post-match interviews, the coaches have shown their disgust against the poor referring decisions. Arumughan Rowan, who was the referee in the Goa versus East Bengal match, has been suspended for an indefinite period of time and the AIFF promised that the referring decisions would improve in future matches.

East Bengal appealed against this red card as the team needs their defensive unit to be strong. This has been their second appeal to the AIFF as they did a similar approach to the AIFF regarding the Eugeneson Lyngdoh red card against Jamshedpur FC.

Certainly, a happy moment for the centurion club after this decision from the AIFF but sadly their coach Robbie Fowler would be sitting in the stands on Saturday, as the club’s appeal against their coach’s suspension hasn’t been granted by the AIFF.
