London: Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane didn’t shy away from admitting that Tottenham Hotspurs’ performance against Chelsea in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium lacked lustre and the it was a deserving result. He even express his disappointment towards Harry Kane’s on-field attitude.

“I have no problem with Tottenham being short of quality. Even Kane’s body language today, his performance today. Kane, oh my goodness. I’m pretty angry watching Spurs there. You talk about football, the second goal, the difference between desire and wanting to win a football match, we’ve seen that.” said Keane to SkySports.

The fifth match day of the Premier League 2021 saw a London derby as Tottenham Hotspurs hosted Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea. The visitors won 3-0 courtesy Thiago Silva, N’ Golo Kante and Antoine Rüdiger while the North London side failed to register any mark on the score sheet.

Harry Kane was pretty non-existent in the attack and could hardly make any difference , the striker who had often ran for the Golden Boot race is yet to find the net. The strike is said ‘ to be a Shadow of his former self after seeing a move to Manchester City collapse this summer’.

Keane believed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side lacked basic theories as they failed to hold Chelsea followed by a crashing defeat against Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace the previous week with the identical score.

“Tottenham players not doing the basics, I’m talking about closing someone down, putting your body on the line, that comes from within. We can criticize maybe the coach and a lot of other stuff but get to the ball, stop the shot, put your body on the line.” added the former Aston Villa assistant coach.

Tottenham are set to take on Arsenal in a North London Derby in the Premier League the next on September 26.
