Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah set to be rested for England Series?

Kolkata : As per reports, Indian star trio Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to be rested for ODI Series against England.

Indian team is set to face England in own backyard for 3 Match ODI Series from February 6-12, 2025. This is the only ODI Series that India will play before ICC Champions Trophy 2025 starting from February 19, 2025.

As per Sports Tak, India’s iconic trio Jasprit Bumrah, ODI skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to be rested for managing their workload.

Additionally, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are said to be on leave, putting huge question mark over their participation in Champions Trophy. The final squad is still to be announced.

Virat and Rohit last featured in an ODI series against Sri Lanka in August 2024, while Bumrah last played an ODI match in World Cup 2023 Final against Australia.

The trio is currently playing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia where India is trailing by 2-1. While Jasprit Bumrah has been top notch, picking 30 wickets in 4 Matches, Rohit and Virat struggled with Bat horribly.

India are placed in Group A along with arch rival Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand, and will play all their Champions Trophy 2025 Matches at Dubai. They’ll play their tournament opener on February 20 against Bangladesh followed by their second game against Pakistan on February 23. Their last game of the group will be against New Zealand on March 2.

Official statements regarding the trio’s participation or being ruled out are yet to be confirmed.
