Kolkata : Bengal defeated Uttrakhand by 8 wickets in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Day 4 of Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Elite Round 1 group stage clash, starting their campaign in dominant note.
Uttrakhand started the Day on 165/2. Md Shami removed Kunal Chandela (72) early to give big breakthrough to Bengal. Uttrakhand middle order Batters – Yuvraj Chaudhary (35), Abhay Negi (28) showed some resistance, but Shami picked 4-fer to bundle Uttrakhand on 265 runs, setting 156 runs target for Bengal.
Chasing 156 runs, Bengal skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran (71*) & Sudip Gharami (46) played crucial knocks, guiding Bengal past the target.
Shami was awarded Man of The Match.
Earlier, in first innings, Bengal bundled Uttrakhand on 213 runs, owing to 4 wickets haul from Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and 3 fers from Shami and Ishan Porel.
Responding with Bat, Bengal put up mammoth 323 runs, taking first innings lead, with help of Sudip Chatterjee (98) and Sumanta Gupta (82) heroics.
Bengal will face Gujarat from October 25 at Kolkata, while Uttrakhand will take on Railways at Ramnagar, Uttrakhand.
