Kolkata : Bengal posted 244/7 on Day 1 of Ranji Trophy against Gujarat at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with help of half centuries from Sumanta Gupta, Sudip Gharami and Abhishek Porel.
Batting 1st, Bengal lost wicket of veteran Sudip Chatterjee (3) early. Skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran (20) notched 67 runs partnership with Sudip Gharami (56).
Bengal then saw mini collapse and were reduced to 95-4. Abhishek Porel (51), Sumanta Gupta (58*) played crucial knocks to bring Bengal out of danger. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal (21) played an important cameo at the end to finish Bengal’s Day 1 on 244/7.
