Like every year Raksha Bandhan 2020 is not the same, mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic which has confined us to our homes. Former India cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir led wishes on Twitter as the cricket fraternity celebrated the love of sisters on the festival on Monday.

Tendulkar wrote a heartfelt note on this auspicious occasion for his sisters. It read, “This year’s Raksha Bandhan is a little different. In spite of the ‘temporary’ distance, the bond of love I share with my sisters is stronger than ever. Hope all of you have a blessed #RakshaBandhan.” He tweeted a couple of photos where his sisters were seen tying ‘Rakhi’ on his wrist.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Sachin didn’t meet his sisters this year.

Former India allrounder, Yuvraj Singh was also seen sharing adorable pictures of his childhood with his sisters on his Instagram handle. He captioned, “Walking down memory lane, remembering some wonderful times spent with my amazing siblings. We may not get to see each other as often as we did during our younger days, but the bond we share has only strengthened over time! Wishing all my lovely sisters a very Happy Rakshabandhan.”

He also wished the female staffs who are working in hospitals and healthcare centers by further adding, “Let’s also spare a moment to thank our sisters who are working in hospitals and healthcare units, protecting all of us by risking their own lives.”

Other cricketers who shared pictures of Rakshabandhan are Suresh Raina. He tweeted a picture with his sister Renu and wrote, “Wishing everyone a Happy & Blessed Raksha Bandhan! Renu, you will forever be my favorite companion! I promise that I will forever be there for you. To all the brothers and sisters, let’s celebrate this Bandhan of Love.”

Shikhar Dhawan also took to Twitter, “We’ve got a bond for a lifetime! Happy #RakshaBandhan to my amazing sisters.” Ajinkya Rahane also posted a childhood picture with his siblings and captioned, “Rakshabandhan is a festival we always celebrated together at home whenever I was in Mumbai. So many fond memories! Here’s one throwback picture with Apurva and Shashank.”
