Goa: FC Goa’s spirit broke as Chennaiyin FC beat them 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Saturday (December 19). Jorge Ortiz netted for Goa while Rafael Crivellaro and Rahim Ali scored for the visitors.

The match started with great intensity with end to end action. Chennaiyin’s Jakub Sylvestr went close in the fourth minute but his first-time shot went straight at the goalkeeper before they took the lead when Crivellaro’s attempted curling delivery from a corner kick found the back of the net beating everyone as the goal would get probable contender for the goal of the season.

Goa got there shortly after that as Ortiz started a brilliant move beating two players passing wide before Alexander Romario Jesuraj squared it off for the Spaniard who finished it off efficiently.

Chances were coming thick and fast as Anirudh Thapa’s double attempt at the goal looked scary but lack of finishing was there to see for all.Goa were dominant of the possession but Chennaiyin were creating chances in the majority of the first half.

In the second half, Chennayin extended their lead as Crivellaro was involved again in the box holding the ball in the box before squaring it off for Rahim Ali who tapped it in.

Chennaiyin were constantly building pressure in and around the box of Goa but wasnt getting the finishing touch while Goa despite having the majority of the possession of the ball were not finding their rhythm which was quite unusual to witness considering their current form.
